Born and raised in Sydney Australia, Mr. van Schie came to Tucson on an exchange program in 2009 to the UofA. He fell in love with Tucson, and moved here permanently in 2011 after completing his student teaching. He waited tables at Outback Steakhouse and IHOP while getting his Arizona Teaching Certificate and then began teaching at Mountain View HS. Shortly after, he had the opportunity to teach at Secrist Middle School and taught PE there for 5 years while working on his Masters Degree. Mr. van Schie then became the the Assistant Principal at Gridley for 3 years and in 2021 Mr. van Schie became the Principal at Mansfeld and has been blown away by the dedication of the staff and the community to student academic and personal achievement. He met his wife here in Tucson, and together they have three beautiful daughters.
